I have used this air compressor numerous times and I really like it. It’ll fill a totally flat 16″ tire in minutes. Yes, you need to open the hood and connect the compressor cables to the battery.
But that’s why this compressor puts out the power; you just can’t get a strong enough amperage through a cigarette lighter.
I carry this Viair compressor with me all the time. I like it for its air output, its duty cycle, its long power cables and long air hose, and its decent price.
Over the winter I found that the power cable cord became brittle where it enters the compressor. This exposed some wiring, which in turn blew the fuse. I just opened up the compressor by removing a few screws, taped the open wiring, and then closed the unit back together.
Took me around 5 minutes is all.
For the brittleness of the power cable in extreme cold, I’d drop this item down a star. But for its usefulness, the power it has, and the low cost, I’d give it a 5 star rating. All in all I would buy this item again.
Here is some of the description of this Viair compressor:
12 VOLT – 120 PSI Max Working Pressure,
engine must be running during use.
Powered via alligator clamps direct to battery.
Good for small ATVs, trucks, SUVs,
and sedans with up to 33″ Tires.
LED/power indicator, 9 Ft. Power Cord, 12 Ft. Air Hose, 3pc Inflation Tip Kit
